First Reading (Zac 9,9-10): Our saving king will bring us peace not with weapons and power but with humility.
Second Reading (Rom 8,9,11-13): According to Saint Paul, the Spirit of Christ must live in our hearts. This Spirit will resurrect us to eternal life.
Gospel (Mt 11,25-30): God gives himself not to the self-sufficient but to the humble, since they open their hearts to God himself.
In today's Gospel, Jesus raises a prayer to heaven, saying, "I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to little ones.!" Indeed, we can verify that during his preaching, the most humble and marginalized people by the political and religious power, identified themselves with his message, with his way of speaking about God, with his way of treating the sick and sinners ... On the other hand, the attitude of the powerful and the leaders of religion was different. The scribes and Pharisees cannot understand that Jesus cares so much about the suffering of the sick and so little about the fulfillment of the law, as the observance of the day of rest, the Shabbat, in which one should not work. Or that he refers to God as a patient and merciful father who forgives the son who has sinned, as in the parable of the prodigal Son.
Jesus does not want to give more burdens and difficulties with his message, on the contrary, he wants to lighten the weight and clear the way to reach God, to find the brother in need. However, his disciples should be aware of their own human limitations, their sins, and with humility they should trust in the one who makes them the only requirement, to love God and love others as oneself.
