What does God’s tell us this Sunday?4th Sunday of the Advent, December 22nd, 2024

This Sunday, December 22, we are ending our Advent journey. A new opportunity to continue growing in joy and hope. Hand in hand with the word of God, some characters who are key in the history of salvation come to meet us. A story in which it is made clear how God always counts on the smallest and most humble to make himself present to us.

We also need to be aware of the role of women in God's plans.

On the one hand, Isabel, wife of the priest Zechariah, appears. She was sterile and elderly. On the other hand, Mary is young and virgin. Of the two, the Gospel tells us an extraordinary experience: they are going to be mothers. In both Mary and Elizabeth there is a special intervention of God. A God who keeps all his promises. Nothing is impossible for Him.

The two women are aware of the action of the Holy Spirit in the depths of their bowels.

They are women in a state of good hope. Each of them is expecting a child. In both we live joy, thanksgiving, blessing and hope.

We too must bring these virtues to life in our families and in our Church.
