The bible mentions two people with this name: James, the son of Zebedee, and James, the son of Alphaeus. Today we devote our attention to the first of them. This James, together with Peter and John, belongs to the group of three privileged disciples who were invited by Jesus to live the most significant moments of his life.
Santiago was at the moment of the agony of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane and the Transfiguration of Jesus. James understood that the glory of Christ is realized precisely on the cross, participating in our sufferings.
This maturation of faith was fully accomplished by giving his life for Christ. "At that time, King Herod decided to arrest some members of the Church to mistreat them. He had James, John's brother, killed with the sword" (Acts 12, 1-2).
