HOW TO RECEIVE COMMUNION AT HOLY MASS?

The Church asks the Conference of Bishops of each country to determine the appropriate body posture so that the faithful can receive Holy Communion. In the United States the bishops have decided that it should be standing or kneeling, bowing a little on the part of the communicant, and saying "Amen" audibly when the minister says "The Body and Blood of Christ."

Holy Communion can be received at Mass in two ways: in the hand or on the tongue.

In the hand: Extend the left hand with the palm facing up and place the right hand under the left. The Host is placed in the palm of the left hand and taken with the right to bring it to the mouth.

On the tongue: The head is raised and the tongue is gently removed to receive the host.

Let us always try to receive the Consecrated Host with devotion, humility and reverence; as well as consume it in the presence of the priest.
