Have you ever been asked if you read the Bible? What did you answer them, yes or no? If you said no, why don't you read it?
Maybe because you don't have a Bible... you don't have time... you don't like to read... you don't understand it... it bores you... it scares you... nobody has taught you to read it...
For every Christian it is a commitment to read and study the Bible because it is the Word of God for us. The second letter to Timothy 3:16 says that the Bible is "inspired by God and is useful to teach, to rebuke, to correct, to instruct in righteousness so that the man of God may be perfect, equipped for every good work" . In other words, they are the very words of God to us.
It is necessary that we learn to read the Bible to strengthen our faith and our Christian formation. To know God's story with us, and where he wants to take us. To know Jesus in whom we believe, through his teaching in the gospels. So the next time someone asks you if you read the Bible, hopefully you'll answer that you do.
