Many Christians miss the opportunities of meeting in church for prayer, and celebrating the sacraments. Unfortunately, the sanitary conditions are still not favorable and it is recommended to avoid all kinds of gatherings. In the meantime, we can live our faith by taking advantage of electronic media and virtual Masses, personal reading of the Bible and, above all, through personal prayer. Prayer is a way of getting closer to God and talking to him. And when we draw near to Him, He draws near to us (James 4: 7-8).
While it is time for the church to reopen to celebrate the sacraments, we can continue to pray from our home, and other places where we are. Let us remember that this personal relationship with God can occur from anywhere, with faith, with devotion. We can use prayers that we already know, such as the Our Father, the Hail Mary, the recitation of the rosary... but also with the prayer that we make in our own words, asking for God's help and giving thanks for his blessings.
Saint Paul offers us a guide for prayer in his letter to the Philippians (4,4-7): “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
