On this day God invites us to vigilance. We must be attentive to the signs of the times. The promise of God that comes to us requires our attention and our active hope according to the living example of the great characters of the History of Salvation that The Letter to the Hebrews reminds us of, such as Abraham and the other patriarchs who never lose hope. Certainty that God keeps his promises and his faith is unshakeable.
The Book of Wisdom and today's Gospel (Luke 12:32-48) invite us to keep our vigilant attitude alive and not lower our guard against the fashions and distractions of our world that lead us to neglect our Christian responsibilities and so that our final encounter with Christ be joyful and smooth.
