Christ is the Lamb of God,
who takes away the sin of the world
Today it is John the Baptist who introduces us to Jesus as "The Lamb of God, the one who takes away the sin of the world." To understand this phrase we must remember that the lamb was one of the animals that were sacrificed in the Jewish cult, to ask forgiveness for the sins of a person or the people. And that symbol was used to explain the meaning of Christ's sacrifice, dying on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. Jesus is the Son of God, sent into the world to show us his love and goodness, to teach us to live as brothers, observing the commandment of love: "Love God above all things and your neighbor as yourself."
He has loved us so much that he accepted death on the cross so that we could be saved. Our faith is placed in Him; We believe in his word, in his gospel, for this reason we too, like John the Baptist, have to bear witness to him before others. Let's not be afraid to live our faith, and let's not be ashamed to be recognized as Christians.
