The word of Jesus frees us from evil

The prophets of God were - and still are today - those who speak in the name of God, they announce his message and denounce human injustices. They interpret his will with authority and direct the people toward God. They are people sensitive to their historical reality and live committed to their faith.

Saint Mark connects that announcement of the prophet who will continue the mission of Moses with Jesus. He taught with authority, announcing with words and deeds a message of hope for the humble and marginalized. The sick feel very deeply how the disease incapacitates them. There are things they want to do, but they can't; It's like they're not fully human. And Jesus restores their dignity, frees them from evil and restores hope.

As believers, we are also called to announce and bring a message of hope, with the example of our lives. Although it is not easy because criticism and prejudices often stop us from carrying out this mission of announcing the Good News of Jesus.
