"Stand up and go; your faith has saved you".
Today we are presented with the greatness of the soul of two foreign men who suffered from leprosy: Naaman the Syrian (First Reading) and a Samaritan (Gospel). Both stories highlight the quality of the faith of those characters who, without being from the Jewish people, make us understand that God's call goes beyond the borders of Israel and is destined for all men.
Saint Paul, in the second reading, tells us of his hope of sharing in the triumph of Christ because he is already sharing in his passion and suffering for the sake of the Gospel. May we also be purified by suffering until we are relieved of any spiritual leprosy that separates us from God and from the Church of him.
