Who do you put your faith in?
Who do people say I am? And who do you say I am? These questions that Jesus asked his disciples at an important moment in his public life are also addressed to us who have believed in him.
In ordinary life we trust a person only until we know him well enough. The same happens in our relationship with God. We will trust and believe in him to the extent that we know him. However, it happens that we often know Jesus and God the Father only through what others say about him, we know him by hearsay, but we do not have a personal experience of faith. And if we do not know him, how can we follow him?
We can say that we know Christ, although we are still lacking. We trust in him, although sometimes we have doubts. We come to his house on Sundays to celebrate Mass and the Eucharist together, although sometimes we cannot. We follow in his footsteps, carrying the cross of our daily responsibilities during the week, trusting that he, like the Cyrenian, will also carry the cross at our side when our strength fails us.
