Reflection of the Word of God, Third Sunday of Advent, December 12th

The apparitions of the Virgin of Guadalupe are a message of hope for the peoples of America who had lost everything with the conquest of the Europeans. This woman wrapped in the sun and covered by a mantle of stars is the same young woman from Nazareth, who received the mission to be the Mother of the Savior, and who did not hesitate to visit her cousin Elizabeth, mother of John the Baptist, to help her while the time of delivery arrived.

The virgin does not present herself as a savior, but as an intercessor before her Son. Who knows the hearts and needs of her children better than a mother? The words he addressed to the Indian Juan Diego, in the midst of the anguish and discrimination that he suffered, are still valid for everyone who suffers:

"Understand my son, the youngest, that what scares and distresses you is not so important. Do not be saddened by your heart or filled with anguish. Am I not here, am I your Mother? Am I not your help and protection? "
