Christians around the world celebrate the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity from January 18th to 25th of each year. We are invited to pray for Unity under the title "We saw the star in the East, and we came to worship him " (Mt 2, 2).
The Magi manifest the unity of all peoples desired by God. They travel from distant countries, and represent diverse cultures, driven by the desire to see and know the newborn king, and gathering in the little house of Bethlehem, they worship with simplicity and offer their gifts.
We too as Christians are called to be a sign before the world of the unity that God has brought us. Coming from different cultures, races, and languages, we Christians share that same search for Christ and the common desire to worship him.
Our mission as a Christian people is, therefore, to be a sign, like the star, that guides the desire of God of all humanity towards Christ, and to become a mediation for God to bring about the unity of all peoples.
