Rejoice in the Lord Always
Today the third candle of the Advent wreath lights. The light grows; we are getting closer to meet the Lord and also starts the Christmas novena (the posadas). “... Fear not, you do not give up your hands. The Lord, your God, your mighty Savior, is in your midst.”
This is the message of the prophet Zephaniah puts us in anticipation of what is about to happen. And accompanying the invitation of Paul to all the Christians: Rejoice always in the Lord!, I repeat: Rejoice!
John the Baptist, meanwhile, crying with a loud voice what we can do to prepare for the coming of Christ: “ works of justice and charity.“ It is interesting that the first interested in preparing doing something for others, are public sinners, marginalized by society.
The joy of Advent goes beyond the colored lights, gifts, parties. This time invites us to be joyful always; to foster fraternal relations and permanent family and not just because the year-end tradition imposes us.
