FEAST OF THE PRESENTATION OF THE LORD

Forty days later, Joseph and Mary took the baby Jesus to Jerusalem to present him in the temple and fulfill the law. The Messiah awaited by the people of Israel enters the holy place, but is only recognized by Simeon and Anna.

God always fulfills what he promises, that is why Jesus' family did everything indicated by the law of Moses; however, the time would come when Jesus would bring that law to its fullness, as well as all that the prophets announced.

Simeon and Anna represent the Old Testament generations that awaited the fulfillment of divine prophecies and promises. In turn, they prophesied what would become of the child and Mary's participation in the plan of humanity's redemption with the new and definitive covenant.

Jesus was tested through suffering and can now help those of us who are under trial (Letter to the Hebrews).
