No te conformes en la orilla, rema mar adentro
This Sunday’s Bible readings present us with three examples of people who have believed in God and wanted to do something else for others. The first is the prophet Isaiah, who was already serving in the temple of Jerusalem, however, he receives the mission of proclaiming the Word of God to his brothers, even if he feels unworthy and sinful.... In the second reading, St. Paul narrates in the first person, who he was, he was an enemy of Christ, a persecutor, but once he knew him personally, he became one of his best apostles. Finally, in the Gospel of Luke, we find Peter and his companions, who despite their efforts and their experience as fishermen, do not manage to catch something. Jesus then asks them to go further, out to sea and find an abundant catch, since then they were no longer simple fishermen, but apostles sent to attract all peoples to God.
Maybe we, like them, are at a point in life where we think that there is nothing more to do, that we have already achieved what we had to achieve. However, God’s word calls us to go further, not to settle for who we are and have, that we can give a little more as believers. We have to put out into the deep to find what we long for... we must trust in the Word of Jesus that guides us, trusting that, with him, all our projects will achieve good results.
