Bartimaeus, the blind man who obtains from Jesus the healing of his blindness, beyond the miracle itself, represents how by meeting Jesus, we can no longer remain on the side of the road, but become followers of Christ who walks towards the culmination of his Mission in the Holy City.
True healing will be to follow him promptly, abandoning the mantle, because now the faith and hope that sets us on a journey shine in our lives.
Bartimaeus no longer stays on the sidelines, nor does he return to Jericho, nor does he shut himself up in his joy at having recovered his sight; rather, he makes the determination to follow Jesus to Jerusalem, on the path that will lead him to the Cross, to the gift of his life.
The regained sight makes him see a new God, capable of enlightening his heart and following Jesus as far as necessary.
Let us help many who are or feel marginalized to encounter Jesus who is The Way, The Truth, and The Life
