What does the Word of God tell us this Sunday?

“My eyes have seen your salvation”

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple. There was a very important meeting with two elders. Joseph and Mary went to the Temple of Jerusalem to fulfill the Law of Moses and the elders, Simeon and Anna, approached the Temple to pray. They have been waiting a lifetime and that day their promises were fulfilled. "My eyes have seen the Savior," said Simeon. Everything happened there was about life completed, God had fulfilled their hope. Simeon and Ana were comforted with the experience of having the Savior in their arms.

Simeon and Ana, after seeing the Savior, "speak of the child to all who awaited the liberation of Israel." These two elders are an example for us who come to the temple with our hopes and desires. Here we also meet the Savior. Here we also meet the Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph. They offer us the Savior. We all come to the temple to pray, to place our hope in the hands of God. May our eyes be able to see the Savior here in the Church and may we carry Him in our hearts to see our hope satisfied and proclaim the wonders of God upon leaving the temple.
