In the first reading, a Shunammite woman showed generosity and hospitality by offering shelter and food to the prophet Elisha.
This good deed will be rewarded by the blessing of the prophet and since she had no children, God rewarded her with a son.
This Sunday's Gospel of Matthew teaches that living the Christian faith is not easy, because living according to the values of the Gospel implies going against the current, and becoming a target of criticism even from the people closest to us.
However, those who receive Jesus' disciples will be blessed, because by receiving them they receive Jesus himself. What can be more valuable than family? And still our faith in Christ is in the first place. “Whoever finds his life, he will lose it; and whoever loses his life for my sake, he will find it ”(Mt 10, 39).
