This Sunday we are presented with the text of the wedding at Cana, where Jesus turns water into wine. Cana was a small town near Nazareth, where Jesus lived. There a wedding is celebrated and the Virgin Mary, Jesus and his disciples were invited.
The Jews of that time celebrated weddings for three, four, and even more days. It was necessary to provide what was necessary to attend to the guests. The bride and groom have the problem of running out of wine. The Virgin Mary, always attentive and helpful, finds out about the situation, and tells Jesus what happened.
The Lord answers that her time to reveal himself as God has not come and therefore it seems that he is not going to compromise in this matter. However, the Virgin Mary tells the servants: "Do whatever Jesus tells you." The Lord then acts, and the miracle happens: not only was the water transformed into wine, but also this wine was of the best quality.
