What does the Word of God tell us this Sunday? Pentecost Sunday

P. Claudio

Saint Luke tells us in his book "The Acts of the Apostles" what happened on the day of Pentecost, what the experience of the Apostles with Mary was like, and what happened to the many people who were near that place. For all of them it was a transformative experience.

With Psalm 103 we proclaim the power of the Lord who with his “breath”, that is, with his Spirit, renews his creation and repopulates the face of the earth.

Saint Paul teaches us that the Holy Spirit gives life and unity to the Church and all of its members are enabled to exclaim with total conviction that "Jesus is Lord".

When praying the Sequence we ask God to send us his Spirit and his seven gifts to enlighten us, comfort us, fill us with his love and peace penetrating the depths of our hearts.

Saint John shows us in the Gospel, how the Holy Spirit is a gift of the Risen One who, breathing on them, gives them the power to forgive sins in the name of God.
