What is the examination of conscience?

sandraalvaradocsm

It is about examining our conscience in prayer before God. The purpose of the exam is not to anguish over our faults but to recognize them seriously and trust in God to confess them knowing that we will be forgiven. God is a loving Father who makes us see sin to give us the grace of repentance and forgiveness.

Every day we experience our limitations in one way or another. We want to be good parents and we get impatient; we want to be better husbands and we fail; we want to be perfect, and we make mistakes, we try to help our friends in need, but we do not.

All this leads us to touch the truth about the human being, a limited creature. That is why we recognize ourselves as sinners before God, to encounter his mercy and ask that the Holy Spirit purify us with his love to obtain reconciliation with God and our neighbor.
