Saying the Apostles' Creed, every Sunday, in the celebration of Mass, unites all Christians as the Church of Christ, as a community of believers, beyond the different traditions and rites.
As we recite the Creed, we join with Christians past and present, and throughout the world, in proclaiming our common faith: I believe in God, One and Triune.
The Creed is an essential prayer when it comes to proclaiming, renewing and transmitting the faith, which no one has given to himself. It contains in a brief way, a compendium of the truths and teachings that the Apostles transmitted to us... and which, in turn, they received from Christ.
It is like a summary of our religion and of the truths that are the pillar of the Catholic faith that help us to foster the unity of the Universal Church, which does not cease to confess the faith received from one Lord, transmitted by a single baptism and we have the conviction of having one God and Father. This same faith in the unity of all those redeemed by Christ is the basis of our ecumenical identity.
The Creed is structured in three parts. Each part expresses the dogmas associated with each person of the Holy Trinity: the first part deals with God the Father, the second with God the Son and the third with the Holy Spirit.
